| The wonderful author Lex Valentine had this to say about GayLife.com: "This book read like a gay chick lit romance. Saucy, irreverent, tender, funny…shit, you can slap all kinds of words on this book to describe it, but one rose above the others. Riveting. The characters just leapt off the pages at me. Written in first person, with an amazing voice, the author sucked me in within the first chapter." You can read the whole review here. |

| Here's Sarah's review: I’ve enjoyed reading the Mahu series by Neil Plakcy immensely, so was keen to read his latest book from MLR Press. While his other books focus more on the mystery and to a lesser degree Kimo’s coming out and love life, GayLife.com is firmly in the romance category. Brian is such an honest character, complete with flaws and the odd annoying personality trait. As for his hunky boss I read less about him than I perhaps would have liked, which is unusual I guess in a romance novel where the central plot revolves around the two love birds and their merry trip off into connubial bliss + sex. What the book did remind me of was not dissimilar to a chick lit romance complete with a cast of interesting extras, much hieing around, a few disastrous attempts at love and a flatmate in a pear tree. While I did enjoy the novel, the sexy boss could have done with a little more development and there was a lot of detail about the comings and goings of Brian and the website. I am a bit of a geek, but there was almost too much internets even for me in there! It had a sweet and satisfying ending though and much smooching. Definitely an entertaining and sexy read with a difference. Check it out here at Neil Plakcy’s website or via MLR Press Website and All Romance eBooks. AND that cover rawks! |

RATING: ![]() Review by Teresa Brian’s life is at a crossroads. Thank god his best friend Stella is there for him when he lost his job and then to top it all off his boyfriend left him. Stella, a very well known model, talked Brian into getting a head shot months ago and told him she could get him a day's work modeling. With nothing else to do, Brian takes the job and afterwards he learns that Paavo’s boyfriend, Nick, is looking to hire someone to help him jumpstart his new web site. Brian ends up pitching in at the office and the job is his. Read the rest at the Rainbow Reviews website. |

Title: GayLife.com Author: Neil Plakcy Publisher: MLR Press Genre: Contemporary Romance Length: Novel (236 pages) Rating: 4.75 stars out of 5 A Guest Review by Aunt Lynn THE BLURB Living in the awesome gay candy store called South Beach, Brian Cohen laments his inability to score a great job or a sexy boyfriend—until he lands at the website GayLife.com, where his hunky boss may want more from him than just his management skills. THE REVIEW I have not read any of the popular Mahu mystery books by Neil Plakcy, so he is a first-time author for me. I also understand this is his first foray into the world of romance, and I think he hit gold with this one. GayLife.com is a funny, smart, uplifting, well-written book that would be a perfect beach read — not too angsty, not too sappy, just right — and I could see this being made into a romantic comedy film. ![]() Elisa Rolle's review Gaylife.com is the name of the website where Brian, unemployed thirty something gay guy in Miami ends to work for, but it's also the summa of what the story is the "gay life" of a man who is at that moment in life when he has to take a decision, living forever like a globetrotter, without basis or purpose, or doing something with his life. The time is the late '90, I believe for two reasons: first, the Internet was still enough young that the adventure to launch a gay website could be still something new and original and second, maybe the out and proud movement was not so strong, and some of the events that take place in Brian's life were still possible and common. ![]() Brian Cohen has no career and no love prospects, but he has a best friend who supports him and looks out for his best interest. A possible job leads him to the office of Nick Petrangelis, the owner and founder of GayLife.com. The fact that Nick has a boyfriend deters Brian from trying for more, but with Nick’s killer body, it’s hard to not keep the fantasies sizzling and the flames flickering. Brian gains valuable lessons over the course of his new job, some in friendship, a few about relationships, important realizations about his skills, and most importantly a lesson in love.
