Excerpts

Here's an excerpt from Mahu Fire in which Kimo realizes something important about Arson Investigator Mike Riccardi.

In this excerpt from Mahu Surfer, Kimo’s undercover on the North Shore of O’ahu, searching for information on the death of a surfer named Lucie Zamora. He heads to an exclusive ladies’ store where she used to shop.

Here are two brief excerpts from Mahu.

Interview with Kimo
Anthony Bidulka, who's a terrific mystery author, interviewed my hero, Honolulu homicide detective Kimo Kanapa'aka, here.
Party Pictures
Since the release of Mahu Surfer coincided with my 50th birthday, I decided to throw myself a big party. Here are some pictures from the party, at the Mai Kai Restaurant in Ft. Lauderdale.

Māhū Fire

Other Māhū Stuff
In the final revision of Māhū, I had to cut a bunch of scenes out that feature attorney Tim Ryan, Kimo's first romantic interest. I've made a pdf file of those scenes, if you'd like to know more about Tim.
I've prepared a Flash movie as a little preview of the book-- click here to play it. (Warning: those who are squeamish about naked male bodies -- or those under the age of consent in their respective locales-- should not click.)
Other Fun Stuff
The 2006 ThrillerFest in Phoenix was great. Here are my notes from the conference-- with particular information on Ray Diosdado's knife skills seminar, Nick Hughes on being a bodyguard and on streetfighting, and Robert E. Lee Seibert's gear recommendations.
I haven't been keeping it up, but I blogged for a while about the process of publishing Māhū. If you're a writer, or just interested in the ins and outs of the publishing business, particularly gay and lesbian publishing, you might find it has some useful information.
